Race week continues with chance at winning money, free beer
FARGO N.D.—The inaugural Great American Mile dashed its way into Fargo Marathon Week.
With free beer and hundreds of dollars were on the line, 33 people signed up to race.
The first man and first woman to win the mile race in downtown Fargo both got a $500 prize.
And, every runner is entered in a drawing to win a year's supply of free beer.
Zach Kughn from South Dakota was the first to cross the finish line, clocking in at 4 minutes and 52 seconds.
"I feel pretty good. It's exciting to win five hundred bucks. I don't get too many chances to run for prize money," said Kughn.
"Usually I'm working during the rest of Marathon Week, so this was a good opportunity for me to get out and race and have fun," said Maddie Van Beek, first place winner.
Marathon week continues with the Youth Runs Thursday at the Fargodome.
