Truck encased in ice on Otter Tail Lake
OTTER TAIL—An expensive reminder; even with our frigid temperatures, there are dangers that come with driving on lakes.
A full size truck is encased in ice on Otter Tail Lake Sunday after it went through the ice near the bridge that connects Walker Lake with Otter Tail just off Highway 1.
There's moving water in that area and often thin ice and even open water.
As you can see, the truck isn't submerged.
That area is near shore and shallow.
Sources tell us the driver escaped unharmed, by crawling out the window.
The cost to remove a vehicle that goes through the ice is in the thousands of dollars.
