Fargo North hockey on doorstep of ending state drought

FARGO - It's been a year of change for the North boys hockey team.

The Spartans have won more games this season than the last three years combined.

Now they're on the doorstep of the school's first trip to the state tournament in five years.

The Spartans have been led by senior goaltender Ryley Pladson, who's posted a 2.83 goals against average this season.

North will open EDC tournament play at home Tuesday night against Devils Lake, the Firebirds beat the Spartans by one goal in both matchups this season.

Domenic is the Sports Director at WDAY. He comes to Fargo from WNCE-TV in Glens Falls, NY where he launched the sports department at the independent station. Before that, Domenic worked at WSTM, the NBC affiliate in Syracuse, NY as a photographer and live truck operator for over two years. He graduated from Oswego State University in 2002 with a degree in Broadcasting. Domenic hails from the lake effect snow capital of the world, Oswego, NY, he joined the WDAY Sports Department in September 2006.
