MINOT, N.D. -- A Ward County Jail inmate who was taken to Trinity Hospital in Minot and later died has not triggered further investigation by the Department of Corrections. According to Don Redmann, director of facility operations for the DOC which oversees jail inspections, a preliminary report regarding the death of inmate Oscar Wilkie III of Minot, based on initial information, did not indicate the need to request further investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
LAKE SAKAKAWEA, N.D. -- Current conditions indicate near normal snowmelt runoff can be expected in the Missouri River Basin this spring. While the outlook issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is notable, it is subject to change in the coming weeks as the winter season still has the potential to add to the snowpack. Historically, only about 45 percent of peak mountain snowpack is reached by this time of year.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 28-year-old Minot man facing multiple felony charges in Minot including armed robbery is being held on other charges in Las Vegas, according to the Ward County Sheriff's Office. Jose Victor Gonzalez will eventually be extradited back to Ward County to face charges in Minot. The sheriff's office received notification last month that he is being held in Nevada.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 26-year-old Minot man will serve about 10 years in prison for shooting two men outside a Minot bar with a high powered rifle in October 2016 and dealing drugs in Minot earlier that year.
STANLEY, N.D. -- A pretrial conference is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 4, in district court in Stanley for a New Town man accused of filming himself having sex with an area girl and then sending the video to friends. Deondre Garfield Peart, 20, is charged with promoting a sexual performance by a minor, a Class B felony carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
MINOT, N.D. — A 24-year-old former hotel clerk will serve about three years in prison and 10 years of supervised probation for sexually assaulting a runaway 14-year-old girl at his hotel last year. Mohammed Omer Siddiqui pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of sexual imposition, a Class B felony, in August.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 25-year-old Minot woman will serve 15 months in prison for child neglect and bail jumping after her husband was convicted of shooting her children with a BB gun. Court records show that Cassandra Sherry-Hill pleaded guilty to the charges in district court on Wednesday. She was sentenced to five years each on the Class C felony child neglect charge and the C felony bail jumping charge, with a requirement that she serve 15 months, followed by three years supervised probation.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 27-year-old former TJ Maxx employee is accused of embezzling money from her employer between June and September by processing up to 300 fraudulent receipts.. Brittany Sharde Haynes is charged with Class C felony theft by deception in district court in Minot. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. She is scheduled to make an initial appearance in court on Monday.
MINOT, N.D. -- A north-central North Dakota man was sentenced to three years of probation last week for assaulting his brother during a dispute at an old radar base south of Minot this past summer with a gun.
RUGBY, N.D. -- A 51-year-old Rugby man has been charged with endangerment of a vulnerable adult, animal neglect and maintaining a public nuisance and in a rare move the judge has sealed files in the case. Kurt Bradley Arthur made an appearance on the Class B felony and two Class A misdemeanor charges on Tuesday, Dec. 12, in district court in Rugby. Arthur was released on his own recognizance.
