WEST FARGO -- The longtime West Fargo-based Stockmen’s Supply store is moving, but the veterinary clinic will remain at the 802 Main Avenue W. facility. Stockmen’s parent company, ANIMART, said in a statement that the store will be relocating to the Mandan, N.D., location by June 30. Dr. Tammy Johnson will continue to operate in the West Fargo clinic location and provide companion animal veterinary services for the area.
FARGO – Fargo School District officials are trying to dispel misconceptions about plans for a small elementary school for students with severe behavioral needs after the School Board voted to remodel a space to accommodate the school despite concerns from parents and staff. Superintendent Jeff Schatz says the new school, which would be in the Agassiz School in south Fargo, is meant to be temporary for students, and they would eventually be transitioned back to their neighborhood schools.
WEST FARGO -- The West Fargo School Board narrowed on Friday, March 23, its superintendent finalists from three to two. The two finalists are Bethe Slette and Ben Johnson. Slette is the West Fargo assistant superintendent of elementary education and Johnson is the assistant superintendent of education in Bismarck. The board at a morning meeting chose to not advance Pelican Rapids (Minn.) Superintendent Randi Anderson, who is also a finalist for the superintendent position in Moorhead.
WEST FARGO – A man fatally shot by members of the Red River Valley SWAT team after a standoff on Monday, March 12, has been identified. West Fargo officials said the man was Justin Lee Dietrich, 32. West Fargo Police Chief Heith Janke said Monday that the incident began about 8:30 p.m. when a West Fargo officer tried to pull over Dietrich – who was suspected of possessing stolen handguns. However, the attempted traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase through the city.

The finalists are Beth Slette, West Fargo assistant superintendent of elementary education; Pelican Rapids (Minn.) Superintendent Randi Anderson and Ben Johnson, Bismarck, assistant superintendent of secondary education.
WEST FARGO – West Fargo Public Schools Superintendent David Flowers has announced he will retire June 30, 2018. According to a statement from the district, the West Fargo School Board will consider Flowers’ letter of intention to retire at its Monday, Dec. 11, meeting.

FARGO – A funeral for Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, whose killing has prompted outpourings of grief around the region, will be held this week in Fargo. The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at First Assembly Church, 3401 25th St. S.
LISBON, N.D. – A Lisbon family is grieving the loss of a 14-year-old girl who was fatally struck by an SUV while riding a bicycle Thursday morning, July 20, on a gravel road. Teena Elijah told The Forum that her daughter, Bethany Elijah, was the victim of the crash.
WEST FARGO – A firm called Bat Pros hired by the school district here to investigate what bit a staff member and student last week at L.E. Berger Elementary School hasn’t yet found the culprit, but the mystery critter behind the biting probably wasn’t a bat.
